Boxing Day (Dec 26th), Little London, Westmoreland, Jamaica — 2024
On my most recent trip to Jamaica, my family and I stayed in Little London on the southwest coast of the island. My family roots are in the hills of Trelawney, so even though I’ve visited many times, this part of the island was new to me.
Our taxi driver, Granville, casually mentioned an annual drag racing event happening a short drive away. I grew up aware of Jamaican car culture, but I had no idea there was such a thriving drag racing community here so I had to see what it was all about. After securing a grounds pass, I spent the day documenting what I could — teams rebuilding seemingly ordinary cars into machines capable of unimaginable speeds. The ingenuity, discipline, and community behind it all was incredible.
